Omron HJ-303 GoSmart Pedometer Q&A
Q. What is Smart Sense Technology?
GOsmart™ Pedometers by Omron feature its very own Smart Sense technology. Instead of using a simple pendulum
mechanism (the clicking you hear on most pedometers), GOsmart™ pedometers use high-tech acceleration sensors. These
sensors know exactly a step is taken and filter out non-walking movements so you know your count is accurate.
Q. Does it matter where the pedometer is placed or attached?
The new GOsmart™ Tri-Axis Pocket Pedometer (HJ-303) is the most advanced GOsmart™ pedometer – it can be used at
any angle even flat! You may place it in a pocket, purse or on your waistband in any direction.
Q. What's the accuracy rate of Omron Pedometers?
The precision of the step counting is within +/- 5%.
Q. What are moderate steps?
The Omron HJ-303 GoSmart Tri-Axis Pocket Pedometer separately displays the steps and minutes walked at a
moderate pace, 90 steps or more per minute.
Omron GOsmart™ HJ-303 Pedometer Reviews:
By: GingerSnap (Sacramento, CA)
I have tried four others and none of them really worked effectively (other brands.) This one accurately measures
my steps and not other actions (such as bending over, etc.) I am most satisfied with the fact that the pedometer
can be at any angle and even in a bag and it still works.

Other reviews are covering the accuracy of this unit pretty well. For the money, it's an excellent unit. The
sporting good store ones are usually the cheaper type, while still costing as much as this one. I've had no issues
with it working while in my hip pocket.
What got me to write is i just accidentally washed and dried this thing in the laundry. It was very hot to the
touch after the dryer, so i let it cool off a bit. Still works fine and looks very clean ;) Kudos to these guys for
a well-made and idiot proof pedometer.

The Omron HJ-303 GoSmart Tri-Axis Pocket Pedometer is similar to the Omron HJ-112 Digital Pocket Pedometer, but
it "works in any position at any angle."
It must be how I hold it in my pocket, but it gives me the same information my HJ-112 records: steps walked,
miles covered, calories burned, "aerobic steps" (moderate, continuous walking), and a seven day memory. So there
may be someone whose HJ-112 doesn't read accurately. Is this because it is in a purse? In a fanny pack? Tied to a
shoelace? I don't know. The HJ-303 is slimmer, but those step totals for both models are the same for me. That's
really a good thing, because I'm very pleased with my HJ-112. I am equally pleased with the HJ-303. So... unless
you NEED your pedometer to "work in any position at any angle," I'd suggest choosing the one that you can get for
the best price.
Since I have both, I've calibrated my original HJ-112 for a running pace, and the HJ-303 for a walking pace.
I'll run 3 miles, and the pedometer will record about 2, so having both gives me an accurate distance total.
Now if I can just get these darn things to record my bicycling pedal strokes as well.

I've been using this device for two weeks now and I'm very happy with it. At first I encountered the time bug
which either resets your time or makes it jump several hours.
I finally found the cause. I've been keeping my Omron in the same pocket as my mobile phone and it seemed to be
affecting it somehow.
I moved it to the other pocket and it's been running without problems ever since.
It's very small (much smaller than I expected) and light and does the job very well.
