The Omron HJ-203 is the latest and slimmest pocket pedometer from Omron Health Care. This particular model offers new features that
are not available in previous models. The new features include an activity tracker, auto stride calculation,
battery sleep mode and the 10,000-step symbol tracker.
The unique activity tracker of this pocket pedometer allows users to track their exercise results for a specific
period of time by only tracking one activity measurement at a time. On the other hand, older models of pedometers
do not have the technology to do this, as such, users will need to record the start and stop step readings and
subtract the values to calculate results for the activity. With this activity tracker function, users only have to
push the "Action" button and it starts recording the exercise. To stop recording, simply push the "Action" button
again. At the same time, the auto stride feature calculated your optimum stride length after entering your
The battery sleep mode helps to conserve battery energy, optimizing the lifetime of your battery. After five
minutes without a button pushed, the display switches off while the unit is still functioning and counting steps.
The 10,000-step symbol notifies users when they have reached their daily goal. This pocket pedometer comes in
various colours – black, purple, pink and yellow.
Omron HJ-203 Pedometer Q&A
Q. What is Smart Sensor Technology?
The GOsmart Pace Distance features an advanced acceleration sensor called Smart Sensor technology. This sensor
knows exactly when you are moving and filters out non-walking movements so you know your count is accurate.
Q. Does it matter where the Pocket Pedometer is placed or attached?
Place the Pocket Pedometer in a horizontal or vertical position in any pocket or bag. Or you can attach it to a
lanyard and wear it around your neck.
Q. What is the Activity Tracker - workout mode?
Press the ACTION button for two seconds to start Workout Mode. The pedometer tracks distance, calories burned,
and steps. During the workout, the display's workout indicator bar will scroll across the display. When finished
with your workout, press the ACTION button again for two seconds.
Q. What is sleep mode?
After five minutes with no button being pressed, the message "sleep" appears on the display. While the display
is not showing any information, it is still accurately keeping track of your activity. Press any button to activate
the display again.
Omron GOsmart™ HJ-203 Pedometer Reviews:
By: J. Robinette "Kimberly"
This is one of the best pedometers I have ever had. My only complaint is that it comes with a clip/cord that
attaches to the pedometer. The pedometer itself doesn't have an actual clip on it, which most days results in
misread steps for me. I wear workout clothes most of the time, and have no pockets. I have tried wearing it in my
bra, and on the inside of my underwear but it still seems to have some problems with reading my steps. Overall I
like the different functions and I have never had a problem with the pedometer resetting itself.

I'm one of those people that believes my iPhone can do everything and I'll never need any other kind of gadget,
but after trying to use iPhone pedometer apps for over a year, I was thankful to be able to try the REAL deal. I
love that this is small and not at all bulky. I can easily slip it in my running pants and it be barely noticeable.
It also works great in a backpack. Sometimes on long runs I bring a pack with water and I slip this baby into the
little front pouch and it seems just as accurate as if it were in my pocket. It has a lanyard which is nice, but
for runners it's obviously not ideal. For walkers, I'm sure it's nice to have the option. I also really appreciated
the fact that it stores my history for 7 days, because sometimes I just get home, have to make dinner and put kids
to bed and I forget to log my activity. Most actual pedometers I've used (albeit cheap ones) would only recall the
last reading. For the price, I think it's a good deal for a simple, accurate pedometer with some nice extra

While it's wonderful to work from a home office, the sedentary lifestyle has been a bit damaging to my
once-svelte figure. If only I could get myself to take a walk in the park every day!
My needs were simple. I just wanted a pedometer to track how much I walked every day (or, depressingly enough,
how little I walk). I didn't want features that I'd never use, especially since I wasn't sure how committed I am to
this exercise program. (I'm committed to the IDEA. The process of getting myself out the door... not so much.)
So I cheerfully chose this pedometer from my Amazon Vine selections, and I've been pretty pleased with it. The
functions are easy enough to use that it doesn't bother me that I immediately lost the instruction sheet. Clicking
on the Mode button shows how many steps I've walked today, how many miles that is (Just one mile? Drat), how many
calories I've burned (not enough to justify that ice cream sandwich), and a clock (which obviously it uses for
The only oddity is its carrying apparatus. The pedometer is small enough to shove into even the smallest pocket;
but that doesn't help when I wear sweat pants and t-shirts without a pocket. Instead, there's a slightly strange
plastic clip that can attach to a shirt sleeve or pantwaist and the pedometer swings a little too enthusiastically.
You might want to get an elastic scrunchie for your wrist to accompany this, or attach it to a key ring.
I've been using the pedometer for a few weeks, and it certainly does its job. Plus it's inexpensive enough that
you can "invest" in it to determine if the pedometer's use does inspire you to do more exercising.
